John Acquaviva: Thursday 10th of March 2011
ohn Acquaviva is known primarily through his association with, and recordings for, Plus 8 Records, the label he founded with Richie Hawtin (aka Plastikman). Acquaviva is also one of the most prized techno DJs around the globe, as well as a multi-label entrepreneur -- he helms Probe and Definitive Records in addition to Plus 8. He gradually accumulated a small bedroom studio of equipment to produce music similar to the Chicago and Detroit records he enjoyed, when he met Richie Hawtin in 1989.
Team Canada Dj’s: Friday 11th of March 2011
Team Canada DJs‘ upcoming release Canadian Club is like a portable party (also know as a porta-party, ha!). The Montréal duo (DJs Grandtheft and D.R. one) have an intense passion for procreating oldies classics with today’s top 40 hits, and when you cram these mash-ups onto one shiny disc, you’ve got a major dancestravaganza waiting to happen. Unlike their previous works, Canadian Club is more of a straight-up remix album. It isn’t jam-packed with filthy, juicy mash-up purées, but you do get the same awesome classics laced with original beats. Some notable remixes include David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel,” Steppenwolf’s “Born To be Wild” and Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World.”

Riva Starr: Wednesday 16th of March 2011
Riva Starr couldn’t be hotter right now. Stefano Miele - aka Riva Starr - has smashed out of the blogosphere with his unique patchwork of styles, swiftly establishing himself as one of the most unique and recognisable producer / DJ today. Riva – with his love for re-inventing any music that inspires him – has coined the term “Snatch!” to describe his very personal bootleg remix technique, snatching and pick-pocketing any music style and making it his own. Also known as “Mezcla” - the Spanish word for blending or fusion - Riva’s music moves from mood to mood, genre to genre, but always leaving his cheeky, wobbly footprint. His eclectic love of contrasting sounds reverberate through his productions – Disco, Folk, Electro and Balkan beats are all thrown in there…
